About Me:
I am an amateur historian. I have read Thomas Paine's "Common Sense", The Declaration of Independence, The Articles of Confederation, The Federalist Papers, The Anti Federalist Papers, The Constitution of the United States, The Emancipation Proclamation, The Gettysburg Address and Four Freedoms. I also agree with Morehouse President Dr. Robert Franklin's "the Five Wells."
I am both an instrumentalist and a vocalist. Mainly just sing in church now. Mom's family comes from the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) / Assemblies of God / Pentacostal denominations. Dad's family comes from the Methodist tradition (which was also my ex-wife's tradition). When they married, they joined the Southern Baptist Church as a compromise. This is how we were "raised": singing and playing in all of those churches with some presbyterian thrown in for good measure. As an adult I started attending (and later was confirmed) Roman Catholic. Now, I am back worshipping with family and singing in a Southern Baptist Church. I have every hymnal known to man, I think. I sing as a soloist and in the choir. But the most fun I have had is singing in a gospel quartet. I sing tenor in quartet and tenor II in men's choir. I have been known to jump up and sing the alto lines (without falsetto) to help the ladies out in the choir from time to time. I sing bluegrass, country, gospel and hymns. I can do "Ave Maria" and turn around and sing "Old Rugged Cross" then turn around again and sing Casting Crowns or something form the Gaithers.
I also am an instrumentalist. I play jazz trombone, classical on euphonium (baritone horn) and play hymns in church on either of those instruments or on trumpet. I love marching bands, concert bands, jazz bands and orchestras. I love to play, and I love to listen.
