Faber University, 1962. Larry and Kent, two young freshmen, are eager to join one of the various fraternities (in the film called brotherhoods) of the college. Rejected by the "Omega Theta Phi" (ΩΘΦ), made up of rich and snobbish students, led by military cadet Niedermeyer, they are accepted by the ramshackle "Delta Tau Chi" (ΔΤΧ), composed only of repeating students with low grades and disastrous conduct and from which all social rules are banished. The audacity of their goliardy knows no bounds.
The rivalry between the two brotherhoods leads to the grotesque, from Niedermeyer's horse, killed by the firing of a blank pistol, to "Bluto" spying on Mandy, his rival's partner, who, pretending to be unaware, improvises a very sensual striptease at the window. This is followed by a "fraudulent" seduction of the mayor's daughter and that of the rector's wife.
The authorities and the Omega Brotherhood decide to go after Delta to shut it down. "Bluto" and his companions decide to rebel by ruining the end-of-year parade, organizing a theatrical coup that will make their enemies look ridiculous.
