My post is about dating relations only.
However, Among 2018–19 first-time ninth-graders,
84% graduated from high school by spring 2022. This is the highest rate in recent history among schools.

Mar 31, 2025 5:50 PM UTCGraduation rates have nothing to do with competency. Schools just move students along and don't worry about if they can do the basic skills.
My point was: the schools are focusing on EVERYTHING except actually doing what they are intended to do:: Educate the upcoming generation so they can function in society.
EXAMPLE: No child...I'll say that again...NO CHILD in 23 Baltimore schools were able to pass a Math Competency test and only 7% of Detroit students could read while only 4% of them could do math as 8th graders.

Mar 31, 2025 6:08 PM UTCAs for the Chicago schools in 2023: Out of 649 Chicago Public Schools, 22 schools have zero students who met grade level expectations for reading while no students were proficient in math in 33 schools during the 2021-2022 school year, according to a Wirepoints report.
That seems to conflict with graduation numbers just a bit.

Mar 31, 2025 6:16 PM UTCUrban school districts like in Chicago regularly find themselves at the center of education reform efforts because of large gaps in academic performance between students based on income, race, and ethnicity. Urban school districts may serve very different student populations. For example, Houston serves more English language learners than Atlanta, and in Florida, there are reports a smaller share of students receiving free and reduced-price lunch (FRPL) than Cleveland.
I am not a school teacher! What is the nationwide accepted standard that can reliably predict student’s progress in a heterogeneous community as in Chicago?
